Investigation: Is there a link between alcohol advertising and underage drinking?

Brewers Association of Australia and New Zealand says there’s “no or very little” link between alcohol advertising and alcohol misuse by underage drinkers.

ABC Fact Check investigated this claim and concluded that it doesn’t check out.

The experts acknowledge that it can be difficult to measure exposure to and effects of advertising, and they say that more research is needed. However, the consensus is evidence does show there is a significant risk attached to advertising exposure and youth drinking.
