A recent article in The Conversation makes an interesting point – although 92% of Australians self-identify as responsible drinkers, 43% of us have vomited while drunk, and 75% of us believe Australia has a problem with alcohol. Something doesn’t jibe.
The author, Paul Harrison, also takes aim at the ambiguous language employed by industry bodies like Drinkwise:
What exactly is a responsible drinker? If I drink two or three glasses of wine at dinner during the week am I “Drinking Wise”? What about two beers after work on Friday, plus a cocktail at the Comedy Festival for a bit of treat?
