In what’s quickly becoming a hallmark of Big Alcohol advertising campaigns, Bud Light’s latest effort missed the mark in a big way.
As part of Bud Light’s #UpForWhatever campaign, beer cans were printed with the slogan “The perfect beer for removing ‘no’ from your vocabulary for the night.”
Critics rightly pointed out the campaign flies in the face of the “no means no” anti-sexual violence movement, and was deeply offensive coming from an alcohol company, given what we hear every day of alcohol’s involvement in sexual assault.
Bud Light was forced to apologise for the gaffe. “It’s clear that this particular message missed the mark, and we regret it. We would never condone disrespectful or irresponsible behavior.”
