New report: Alcohol advertising- is the regulation effective?

The Australian National Preventive Health Agency (ANPHA) has released a draft report on the effectiveness of current regulation of alcohol advertising. The report is a useful summary of what are the issues that Australia is facing in terms of keeping alcohol advertising well regulated in different contexts. Some of the topics covered in the paper include:

• Alcohol in Australia – patterns and costs of alcohol-related harm
• Alcohol advertising in Australia – the existing and changing landscape in which alcohol is advertised
• Influence on adolescents – evidence and arguments around the exposure of young people to alcohol related advertising and marketing
• How alcohol adverting is regulated in Australia and how well this is implemented
• Recommendations for changes to alcohol advertising regulation including television, digital media and sponsorship
