New report: Review of governments’ alcohol policies

Late last year the National Alliance for Action on Alcohol released their National alcohol policy scorecard : 2013 results, which reviewed both the Federal and state governments’ alcohol policies.

Only three out of the nine jurisdictions (ACT, WA, Tasmania) achieved an overall pass grade, with the Australian Government receiving the lowest score.

Common areas of strength were drink-driving countermeasures, and treatment and early intervention policies and programs.

Most jurisdictions scored poorly in terms of their restrictions on alcohol marketing and promotion, and also in terms of transparent and independent policy.
