A Draft Report – Alcohol Advertising: The Effectiveness of Current Regulatory Codes in Addressing Community Concern has today been released by the Australian National Preventive Health Agency (ANPHA).
“The Draft Report describes this system, which consists of self-regulatory, co-regulatory and legislative elements, and evaluates its effectiveness. The key purpose of the Review is to assess whether the current mix of provisions is serving to adequately protect children and adolescents (14 – 17 year olds) from exposure to alcohol advertising.”
The draft report makes recommendations regarding alcohol advertising in televised sport, at cinemas, outdoors and on pay TV.
ANPHA are calling for public comment on the Draft Report before the Final Report is provided to the Commonwealth Minister for Health later this year.
